Learn more about Magento →⚠️ Risk & Real-World Impact
Worst Case
An attacker with admin privileges could read sensitive files from the server filesystem, potentially accessing configuration files, credentials, or other sensitive data, and could pivot to internal network resources via SSRF.
Likely Case
An authenticated admin user could read arbitrary files from the server filesystem, potentially exposing configuration files, logs, or other sensitive data stored on the server.
If Mitigated
With proper access controls and network segmentation, the impact would be limited to file reads within the application's accessible filesystem, preventing network pivoting.
🎯 Exploit Status
Exploitation requires admin privileges but no user interaction. The vulnerability is in the SSRF mechanism that could be abused to read files.
🛠️ Fix & Mitigation
✅ Official Fix
Patch Version: Update to Adobe Commerce 2.4.7-p3, 2.4.6-p8, 2.4.5-p10, or 2.4.4-p11
Vendor Advisory: https://helpx.adobe.com/security/products/magento/apsb24-73.html
Restart Required: Yes
Instructions:
1. Backup your Adobe Commerce instance. 2. Apply the security patch via Composer: composer require magento/quality-patches. 3. Apply the specific patch for your version. 4. Clear cache: php bin/magento cache:clean. 5. Restart services if needed.
🔧 Temporary Workarounds
Restrict Admin Access
allLimit admin panel access to trusted IP addresses only to reduce attack surface.
Configure web server (e.g., Apache/Nginx) to allow only specific IPs to /admin path
Network Segmentation
allIsolate Adobe Commerce servers from internal networks to limit SSRF impact.
Configure firewall rules to block outbound HTTP/HTTPS from Adobe Commerce to internal networks
🧯 If You Can't Patch
- Implement strict access controls for admin accounts and monitor for suspicious activity.
- Deploy a Web Application Firewall (WAF) with SSRF protection rules.
🔍 How to Verify
Check if Vulnerable:
Check your Adobe Commerce version via the admin panel or by running: php bin/magento --version
Check Version:
php bin/magento --version
Verify Fix Applied:
Verify the version is updated to 2.4.7-p3, 2.4.6-p8, 2.4.5-p10, or 2.4.4-p11 using: php bin/magento --version
📡 Detection & Monitoring
Log Indicators:
- Unusual outbound HTTP requests from the Adobe Commerce server to internal IPs or file paths
- Admin panel access from unexpected IPs
Network Indicators:
- HTTP requests from Adobe Commerce server to internal services not typically accessed
